The House attributed to Cantaber is an enormous residence constructed during the last quarter of the 1st century AD over another building and the house survived until the city was abandoned. The attribution of its owner is based on the narrative of Idacius, bishop of Chaves in the period, who told about the sacks by the Swabians in 465 and 468, stating that in this latter the “mui nobre Cantaber” was killed and the members of his family sold as slaves. It does not seem probable that an eminent person such as Cantaber would have lived in the city in another location less dignified than in this large house, that had already been designated a palace.
